About Me

Welcome!

I’m Toby, originally from Leeds in the UK. If you’re anything like the “old me,” you might be reading this hunched forward, neck craned at your screen, shoulders slowly inching up toward your ears.

Toby's current setup

Sound familiar?

Honestly, I didn’t even notice for ages.

For years, my life revolved around the grind of a typical 9-to-5 in the UK. Think long hours, endless meetings, and a desk setup I never really thought about.

I was glued to my monitor for eight, sometimes ten hours a day. I figured that if I worked hard, I was doing everything right.

I genuinely believed that aches and stiffness were just… part of the deal. A badge of honour, almost.

Toby's old setup (My old desk setup — don’t judge me!)

My working day was a blur of emails and spreadsheets. Slouching just sort of happened in the name of getting things done.

Then one day, my body decided it had had enough. A persistent ache crept into my neck, a dull throb settled between my shoulder blades, and I felt a tiredness that no amount of coffee could fix.

My GP mentioned something I’d never heard before — office syndrome. I went home that evening and fell down a rabbit hole I’m honestly glad I found.

I started researching everything — posture, ergonomics, desk setup, stretching routines, screen height, breathing habits. What I found genuinely surprised me.

So much of the discomfort that millions of desk workers accept as normal is actually entirely preventable.

It wasn’t about overhauling my entire life. I just made small, simple changes, and they added up to feeling dramatically better — more energy, less pain, and a much clearer head by the end of the working day.

That’s what Simple Vitals is all about.

I built this site to provide the honest, straightforward advice on posture and office health I wish I’d had from the start. Whether you’re already dealing with neck pain and eye strain or just want to stay ahead of the game, you’ll find practical, jargon-free guidance here for anyone with a desk job.

Welcome aboard.
